I was an instant fan of Rick Nelson, at 5 years old, when I snuck into my grandpa's den and put on the 45 rpm record of "Hello Mary Lou" back about 1962, and got an ass whoppin' for messin' with grandpa's record player, but it was worth it. I have always remained a fan and always will. I began playing his oldies in bar room gigs in the early 2000s and was surprized at the reactions of repeated requests to play them again... This man is legendary for sure!!!
It is still a "CRYING SHAME" Rick, his lady friend, and band lost their lives in that horrible, tragic plane crash...😥😭

One of the last times I saw Ricky in concert was at The Palamino club in North Hollywood he was promoting the LP this song came from it was always fun to see him perform live...he was a sweet guy, I recall at one concert he came down the aisle and I held out my hand to shake his hand and he reached over and gave me a kiss on the cheek...it took me a long time to wash that cheek! :) RIP Rick

Fine version of a great Fogerty song. Love Rick. I think the Georgia Satellites’ version is my favorite, but there are several good covers of it. Rick’s is one of my favorites.

The SOBs at EMI have blocked every posting - including yours - of "It hasn't happened yet". Another great song from that album and I used to own that and this song (8 track), but EMI will never get another nickel from me, I swear. It has...) is just about the best breakup song I ever heard, But "Almost Saturday night" was one of the best "Time to celebrate being newly single" songs I ever heard too. So thanks.

I believe the guy on the piano is Elmo Peeler. If you don't know who he is just google his name. He also played and toured with Rod Stewart and also The Beach Boys.
