I’ve owned this for months and have zero complaints about. I race in VR. Love the immersion of the shifting and the smoothness of the FFB.

If you live somewhere where Fanatec doesn't have distribution, you're basically left without ANY other option than Thrustmaster. Moza doesn't do consoles, and Fanatec products break a lot and sending it OUT OF THE COUNTRY to have it fixed means you're gonna sit around twiddling your thumbs for 2-3 months without a wheel. If you live in scandinavia or south america or anywhere that isn't Germany or the US (maybe the UK?) there's no way you'd buy a fanatec setup more than once, cause when something breaks, it's just an absolute RMA nightmare. The only way I'd get a fanatec setup is if I had the money to buy two of everything and then just throw stuff in the trash as it breaks. I do not have that kinda money, and neither does 99% of people who buy wheels.

And, as I said, Moza doesn't make stuff for playstation, AND the Logitech G-Pro setup is dumb. So expensive and the ecosystem is so tiny because no one bought that thing. Many people thought Logi had abandoned the whole thing until this year when they showed off a handful of little addons, none of which appealed to me at all. They released a SECOND round I guess that's what people wanted, a new wheel that's slightly rounder... And the handbrake/sequential looks like trash compared to the Thrustmaster handbrake/sequental, and there's no H pattern shifter after like 2-3 years of the GPro being out.. Look at the stuff MOZA has released in that same time. They have a fricken truck wheel and everything now. It's crazy how much they're putting out there compared to everyone else.. But again, that shit don't work on PS5, which is a damn shame.

At this point in time, there's not a lot of options for people living outside of Fanatec importing nations for consoles. People who would get a base level Fanatec or Moza setup will not pay 2x for a gpro... And they absolutely shouldn't, cause the H shifter is probably not coming out at all, and if it does, it's going to be around 2026....

This wheel is comparable in price with the T300... It works like it's supposed to, and it's got access to the awesome Thrustmaster ecosystem, which is vast and you'll find addons that will suit you, plus you can just go back to the store if it breaks rather than having to deal with the manufacturer personally. These are its strengths.

These things will sell an immense amount. Makes everything else seem like overpriced shit. Once the base comes out in a separate version for like 350 or whatever, it's going to sell way faster than they can make them.

I've had tons of thrustmaster gear throughout the years, and for some reason TM gets maligned by the racing community even though this stuff is ROCK SOLID. No idea where the disdain for this brand comes from. Had the Cougar and the Warthog, awesome HOTASes. Had all sorts of wh TM wheels way back in the 90s and early 2000s, before the G25 came out. All of them rock solid.

People need to stop comparing TM stuff with hardware that's 3x the price. No one reviews the G300 and pits it up against the 21nm Simcube.. But TM always gets pitted up against stuff that's out of the price range TM operates. It's weird.

It still is a direct drive wheel! Its just a different type of motor construction

Cammus: Our C5 is the ugliest wheelbase there is!

Thrustmaster: Hold my beer...

I bought one and I have no problem with the shape of the base. In fact it is surprisingly heavy for it's size. The actual width and height of the wheel base is narrower the the Logitech G Pro. The Fanatec DD Pro is a little smaller in height and width but of course twice as deep and I would guestimate slightly lighter

So him plugging in the wrong cable and it not working (all day) is a bad point for thrustmaster? 😂 jesus..

All these reviews sound like:
"It's not terrible but obviously a rich giga Chad like me isn't gonna buy this. But if you're a casual PlayStation plebian go ahead."

God, I can't wait to slap people in 5 grand motion rigs and wheels with this 😊

Nice review!
Im thinking bout buying this one, but im mainly a pc user that also has a ps5 so the option to switch is intresting.
Has it improved now almost a year later?

Thrustmaster say its smaller but it being taller taking more space is worse for me also putting it infront of a monitor won't be great

Our boy can't be bothered with how the wheel works and can't plug cables in yet has an opinion as a reviewer!
👌

its just a DD wheel base with 1 extra questionable step. DD just means the FFB goes straight to wheel without anything in between. This is literally the same with different type of motor

Bought it because the Loadcell brake comes next year with a new bigger pedal plate. And because I am in europe I maybe get it near christmas the seller implied. 5nm with 100% overshoot and no cogging. Wait until they can make a 10nm wheel for half the price because less copper is used.

Hey, I really enjoy your reviews, but this one felt a bit biased. As a PC/PS5 user, I’m curious, would you honestly recommend this or the GT DD Pro?

an axial flux motor instead of radial flux seems like an interesting idea but the form factor is a big issue

Hello, I am a PC gamer and I do not plan to switch to console. Since I was planning to play games such as iracing and Assetto Corsa, I was planning to buy the moza r5 bundle for a long time, but this new direct drive steering wheel set was silently released. So, what do you think, should I buy the Moza R5 bundle or the Thrustmaster T598 bundle?

actually it is very similar or maybe even the same as Cammus outter rotary, it still can be counted as direct driven since there is no gear / belt or other medium to drive the shaft

Can you compare this wheel to the t300? worth upgrading?
