Abandoned Azores: Monte Palace Hotel

The monolithic concrete hotel that is Monte Palace is perched at Vista do Rei, one of the best viewpoints on the island of São Miguel. Its abandoned and graffiti-covered state is a far cry from the luxury when it opened in 1989 as the first 5-star hotel in the Azores. What a view from the rooftop. I find some interesting remaining details in the basement of this once grand hotel near Sete Cidades. Thanks to Hayley for a couple shots.
