Anybody Have A Map - Animatic [Dear Evan Hansen]

So, I cut out the dialogue (...badly) and uploaded it again, fingers crossed that i don't lose my account. I've already incurred 2 out of 3 strikes from reuploading this freaking animatic and this is my third attempt. If I DO lose my account, I will probably make a new one with a similar name and I will post it on tumblr or instagram :) or maybe you'll see my videos pop up (who knows?)

for some reason, because of her clothes and hair, I mistook Evan's mom as Connor.

This animatic really made me see Evan's mom's side. When I was just listening to the recording, I was kind of mad at her because she was being condescending ("maybe this year we buck up enough to see the world won't fall apart") but the way you draw her, I can see that she's really trying.

tbh Connor's situation is partially caused by his family who only sees flaws in him and minimally shows love to him

Eventhough this song is about mothers not knowing how to handle their sons, I also feel the song to be me in life in general. I need a map because I'm clueless of what I should do. I need help in my direction in life. Just like them, I'm flying blind.

whenever I listen to this song on its own, I can't help but picture Evan's mom as being kind of sarcastic and dismissive, but this animatic COMPLETELY turns that around for me. just the way you have her interacting with him makes her seem much more empathetic to the situation
