Στα μέσα της δεκαετίας του ’50 και κυρίως το ’60 η Πάτρα ήταν από τις μεγαλύτερες βιομηχανικές πόλεις της Ελλάδας. Η αποβιομηχάνιση ξεκίνησε τη δεκαετία του 80 και ολοκληρώθηκε στα μέσα της δεκαετίας του ’90.
