The Report On Berlin, The Divided City, In The Critical Summer Of 1961. This led later to October 27, 1961, as combat-ready American and Soviet tanks faced off in Berlin at the U.S. Army's Checkpoint Charlie. Tensions between the United States and the Soviet Union over access to the outpost city of Berlin and its Soviet-controlled eastern sector had increased to the point of direct military confrontation.

I served in Berlin in 1980-1985 it was an honor to serve with the best they were well trained and motivated of course by then the German police handled any civilian protest and the MP's at check point Charlie wore Class A uniforms instead of battle dress though they were still armed and escapes or crossings still happened😂😂😂😂😂
