Supreme Court ruled in favour of deputy Opposition Leader James Nomane and ordered the recalling of Parliament to deliberate on the Vote of No Confidence motion.
The court found that the decision by the acting Speaker and the Private Business Committee not to include the second motion of vote of no confidence on the notice paper was unconstitutional.
Deputy Opposition Leader James Nomane has announced that the opposition will challenge the recently amended Section 145 of the Constitution, concerning Motions of No Confidence (VONC), in court.
The amendment, passed by Parliament with an 84-1 vote, prohibits any further VONC against the Prime Minister or the Ministry for 18 months following an unsuccessful motion.
Mr Nomane with the presence of fellow opposition members this afternoon announced that the amened VONC will be challenged, “We are also announcing now that we will be taking this matter to court and we’ll be filing next week to oppose these changes as being oppressive and not in the spirit of the constitution.
“Restricting members and prohibiting them from exercising their rights under their mandate to move a vote of no confidence in the Prime Minister and in that holding the executive government accountable and ensuring that we have an opposition in the whole process of Parliament and parliamentary debate,” Mr. Nomane stated, flanked by other opposition members.
Mr. Nomane expressed confidence that the Supreme Court will overturn the amendment and restore the original constitutional provisions.
East Sepik Governor Allan Bird reiterated his criticism of the amended law, stating, “I think that what we’ve done yesterday was totally disrespectful of all the founding fathers. The Constitution should only be amended when absolutely necessary.”
He confirmed the Opposition’s intention to contest the amended VONC law.

The Supreme Court has ruled favourably accordingly to law and let the Constitution rule supreme for the interest of all citizens of our Country.

Now where does it takes Hon. Job Pomat position with his public announcement with his interpretation to the VONC regulations and processes.

Is he still going to stand by his words?.

The vonc and the change of the PM or leaders will not fix the current situations which is faced in the country because. the leaders are ambitious for self gratification and luxury lifestyle, see to yourself today the towns, districts, wards and rural areas it remains same since independence

One suggestion for entire Papua New Guineans; we all know our elected members well. They'll be thinking of their political survival (MONEY) and will try to be stalwart to JM regime. Therefore, the suggestion is, LET'S PEACEFULLY DEMAND THEM TO MOVE or VOTE OUT JM. This move could be organised among respective districts in their respective provincial capital.

Just a suggestion, if you concur with me then spread the massage.

We vote you guys in parliament and you can not follow one simple rule at all. You guys cheat on each other, you make rules to shield you from accountability. You play dirty games so someone must at a disadvantage position all the time and all the while, mipla ol man meri lo country skinim na stap olsem ol longlong sori lain. Can you MPs get your shit together and do something right for us and stop doing everything for yourselves.

It's the Devine intervention from above. Members with this jmpm, come out of that nutshell, bandage and do the right thing. Look around and vote for your new PM. Current PM is a junk.
