Massive Chaos Erupts In Chennai After IAF Air Show; 5 Dead, At Least 200 Hospitalised | Marina Beach

On October 6, a crowd of over 12 lakh came to watch the air show in Chennai’s Marina beach but the whole crowd at the end of the event surged toward exits together creating massive chaos, which left five dead and more than 200 people hospitalized. Police confirmed that while there was no stampede at a specific location, the deaths resulted from dehydration and exhaustion due to overcrowding and intense heat.

We are worse than wild animals! No patience and selfishness reign supreme! I don't see anything great in these air shows - they are invariably badly managed with poor arrangements. We had gone for one air show in Bangalore and I was surprised that there was insufficient canteen facilities and any shady spots for seating. That was the last time I wasted my time and money on these events. Even the smallest handicraft shows have more food and drink going around than these 'prestigious' air shows.

This is very very tragic...and very much negligence from State Government side and failure of management.... Government should have controlled the crowd and have declared a maximum nos. of viewers to be allowed for the Air Show. Rest In Peace for those who have lost their lives in this tragic incident and wishing speedy recovery for those who are being treated at Hospitals from this tragic incident. 🙏

Five lives lost and many hospitalized, some one should be made accountable. How come they gathered such a large crowd without adequate crowd management system. Only VVIPs matter to police???

I use to live in Chennai for 12 There are goods and bads are TN Govt never bothered about public, Govt will give land for companies, power and incentives they will see up to that They don't bother about public and roads, infrastructure, they feel we done you guys go to hell mean public😢😢😢 Same thing happened event conducted that's it public no issue😢😢😢😢
