In history Mahidevran lived through serious poverty after Mustafa's death. Suleiman refused to give her any money. It was surprisingly Selim who gave her a steady salary but after Suleimans death. Hurrem succeeded in making suleiman hate his son so much, even in death. Suleiman knew that Mustafa was innocent, because when a poet challenged him to kill him if he truly believed Mustafa to be a traitor, Rustem ordered the Poet's execution, but Suleiman pardoned him. He admitted in a passive way that Mustafa was indeed innocent. Sadly the plot was proven after his death.
