Psalm 36 (Paraphrased Version)
For the director of music. Of David the servant of the Lord.

1 God has revealed in my heart the truth about the proud and faithless,
They are not afraid to live in disobedience to God, they have closed their eyes from seeing the consequences of their actions and the condemnation coming before them.

2 Somehow they have come to pride themselves in having 'freed' themselves from God,
living as they see fit to live, convincing themselves that there is no consequence for their actions.
3 They have twisted every truth into a terrible lie, and they have convinced themselves that their lies are truth. All wisdom and good intent have faded away, replaced with selfishness.
4 At night they think of ways to satisfy their selfish desires for the next day,
they plot out the details, make their plans, then commit to following them through,
it does not bother them that others will be cheated and deceived because of it, they have justified their ways in their mind.

5 Yet, we are surrounded by the Lord's great love and mercy, see how the great expanse of the sky wraps us all around us, it declares the is Lord forever faithful to his word.
6 Like the great mountains, fixed and unshakable, immovable is God's will. It does not change or bend.
Like the great depths of the sea, there is no escape, no hiding place, from the Lord's justice, everything is seen and will be accounted for.
Both people and all creatures will receive the fullness of the Lord's care according to his word.
7 The most dependable thing in the universe is the love of God. The value of it is far beyond measure and yet it is not out of reach to even the poorest person. In it, we can place all our hope and be found secure, protected, and saved.
Here at the mercy seat (the place we surrender our pride), we are completely covered under the wings of God's love.
8 Those who hope in the Lord enjoy in the abundance of his provision, they lack in nothing. Their soul is filled and satisfied, they never grow thirsty for there is always more of the Lord to drink in.
9 For you are the source of all life, those who put their faith in you are nourished body, soul, mind, and spirit. You open our eyes, you show us the big picture, the greater plan, and it fills us with awe and peace.

10 I pray your presence never leaves the people of the faith, that your love and protection always surround us.
11 Keep me from the violence of the proud and faithless,
may they never find the satisfaction of snuffing out my life.
12 Through the eyes of faith, I can see their coming doom
the proud and faithless lie defeated, unable to harm anyone anymore!
