1994 Porsche 968 Convertible review by The Straight Pipes. The Porsche 968 is putting down 236 horsepower and 225 lb-ft of torque from a 3.0L 4 cylinder. Would you take it over a new Miata or an original Boxster.

Raced a 968 coupe in NASA German Touring Series about a decade ago. Very neutral handling, very stable at speed with long wheelbase. Under rated car for sure.

This car is honestly a lot more relevant and interesting to me than a new $250K 911. I'm honestly getting really bored of car content about vehicles that only absurdly rich people will ever be able to afford, so it's refreshing to see you guys make a video about something a bit more accessible for a change.

Those circle headlights is actually pretty cool imo

My aunt owned a new 944 S2 coupé with the same engine. So much fun to drive. I think the correct thing to say is this is what the Miata aspired to be.

The 968 coupé was my dream car as a teen and I had one for a number of years in the 00's.
A truly wonderful car; have been thinking of buying one as a weekender.

Porsch-ata sounds like a decent drink at the bar

The Miata club would be happy to let you join our drives. We bring along Boxsters all the time, and refer to them as Miata NC 4's. And Honda S2000's as "sweet body kits."

987.1 owner here. I always thought these were super cool, I honestly can’t remember the last time I saw one.

Had a 968 Club Sport in the 1990’s over here in the uk. The 3.0 4 cly had great torque, counter balance-shafts and VANOS variable valve timing. More responsive than 944 turbo. Some of the electrics were a bit 80’s but the CS looked and drove like a smaller 928 GTS. I replaced it with a Boxster 3.2 S, which was a better car all around. Nice to see some love going to the 968

5:30 there was also a mitsubishi pajero produced up until 2021 in europe that had a 3.2L 4 cylinder with 190ish hp. Crazy discplacement for 4 cyls.

The best ones were, of course, not the the one available in North America and that was the Club Sport. Which was like an RS version that was stripped down and lighter racing version. They looked great because you get them with colour matched wheels like Yellow with yellow painted wheels or Red with red painted wheels. One of the best Porsches from the 90's.

It honestly must be amazing to have a job your two clearly enjoy, get to go on trips, and doing it with your best friend since high school! Love the videos, always looks great and shot well.

Beautiful car. I think the convertible especially looks better. The hatchback has that signature 944 rear. On the convertible, it doesn't stand out as much. Nice color too.

It makes more power than most V6's of the same displacement but with two less cylinders, that's impressive!

Love these old car reviews more than the new stuff!! Keep them coming!

I used to think these were kinda ugly, preferring the harder 80s angles of the 944, but they're growing on me now.
EDIT: Also, fun fact, the 944 Turbo is the first production vehicle to offer airbags as standard equipment, starting in 1987. @9:59

I've owned my NA Miata since new, and am a Porschephile, so your love of the NA was nice to hear. I'm a big fan of you guys.

People disliked these cars as a replacement for the 944 in the early 90's. Guess now it's a collector's item... 🤣

Guards red 968 cab owner here. Jakob is wrong, it looks beautiful 😊. 993 +928 + 944 design language all mixed into one. Porsches 1st 6speed gearbox. Amazingly neutral handling, but not as light and fun as my NA miata. Gets more looks than my best friends 40th anniversary SL500. Glad you young men got to experience my college dream car ❤ #savethepopupheadlights
