Be cautious with this layout if you track high already. This worked great with a big crater. We used to draw a line from grip center thru the CG on the VAL, what’s where the hole would go. Big holes would really give a lot of flare separation and move the bow tie significantly to not roll over the holes.

"RICO" is a nickname for a driller/PSO named Ric Hamlin, who developed and implemented this layout as a rep.

Fantastic video. Really appreciate these deep dives into the tech, detailed explanations. So helpful. Thanks!

I have pin in palm on my venom shock, cobra and panic and my coach got me on it because I love the motion for being on wood lanes with broken down lane oil for a speed dominant lefty such as my self

Thanks Mike! Interesting. That’s something to keep in mind and maybe experiment with.

I personally have Purple Venom Shock and Carbide Tank using this layout. They helped lot when the lanes are burned out because it didn't flip harder and gave me more control in the backend. Sometimes, I changed the surface to 500 grit and throw it on the heavy oil inside ten boards to allow the ball move slowly and get in the pocket beautifully and predictable. Not all bowlers will find this layout useful but it depends on the lanes and surfaces. They will have to know when is the right time to use this layout.

I first used a Rico drilling in the late 90s. Worked then. Will work now

For one of the future videos, can we get a video with you and Chris on nothumb balls and the effects of different finger drill depths?

Thanks for the video! This is very interesting. I may have to try this with a couple of bowling balls on some burned up patterns. Do you think this would work well on a short pattern like cheetah or ballard 36'
