Ground hasn’t even been broken on building the plant but already the property tax for the surrounding area has sharply increased. Affordable housing is desperately needed but plans to build expensive homes for the Micron workers is in the works. The people who live in the area won’t be hired for these jobs. The workers will be imported.

Never heard of Micron until today when I saw it mentioned on TV while I was eating lunch at a local pub. Only reason was because the local news was hot to cover Biden’s visit to Syracuse, NY. I definitely want to know more about this tech industry and how it interfaces with AI. If we’re not all dead in 20 years, we’ll probably all be microchipped. Time to do some homework.
