Whataboutism: The Ultimate Defense or Pure Hypocrisy?!

Avoiding the issue at hand and accusing the opponent of being a hypocrite is known as whataboutism in an argument. This is considered an informal logical fallacy as it distracts from the issue and makes an ad hominem attack. However, there are good and bad types of whataboutism, and three ways it could be used well are explored here.
