I've been following Max since he was, "a little black kid growing up in Watts"😂 Anyone who knows his story or how he got to ESPN knows he is an consummate professional and, in my opinion, one of the best sports entertainment color commentators in the game. He brings the same level
of analytic excellence to the rest of sports that he has delivered to the Sweet Science for decades now. The problem is, the sports broadcasting industry in the last decade has went from analyzing and debate to, reporting on the scandals and controversies surrounding the stars of the major leagues making Max something of a throwback. Guys like Skip Bayliss and S.A.S., are just blabbering loudmouths who's shows are driven by asinine takes and hyperbolic opinions that have little to do with actual sports. What S.A.S. was saying is that anyone who doesn't engage in the same, cannot play with HIS ball. It's his bread and butter, and true sports journalism be damned. Even though Stephen A has the journalism degree, Max was way better and it's humbling for a narcissist to hear his takes obliterated by common sense. He's funnier too. Honestly, I think that when S.A.S. realized that Max is seen as more of a "brutha" to us brown and black folk than he will ever be, he had to go. Like you said, the cancelation of OTL signified the end of what we once knew as sports news. Guys like S.A.S. make sports fans dumber. And if ya don't know, now ya know...
