J R R tolkien wrote what it was like in ww1 in Sam's troll song. One it looks like a shin bone. Reading in soldiers who survived from battles would say bones would be in shell holes and depending on what killed him you couldnt tell what bone is bone.

They have some very narrow escapes, but none as narrow as this, why they didn’t take the ring on Wethertop?
I think it maybe because the weapons they got from the barrow had some old, deep magic that could withstand the nine??

This should be Chapter 11. There are two copies of Chapter 12 and no Chapter 11 (of Book 1).
