10 Things I Learned as a CNA

As I start medical school, I wanted to share some of what I learned as a CNA. I hope this helps!

👨‍⚕️ WHO AM I?
I’m a 1st year medical student at Rush Medical College & a Marine Corps veteran (0351). I'm also a nontraditional student. After leaving the Corps, I completed a business degree. But after failing to find my calling in the business world, I found myself back in the classroom studying the world of science & medicine. I worked as a scribe & CNA in the ED/ICU prior to starting medical school, & those experiences confirmed my path to becoming a physician.

This is so spot on, Josh. Really helps me frame some of the things that I’ve learned working as a tech on a med/surg/pedes floor

Congratulations again Josh, I know you are excited to get started on your schooling and next career. This video is perfect timing, I have a job interview scheduled this Wednesday for ER technician, as a retired military member, I have never had a “real” interview before ~ I joined the Navy straight out of high school and did 23 years, needless to say I’m a little on edge not really knowing what to expect or how to answer some of questions I may get. Sometimes military to civilian doesn’t always translate properly, you know what I mean? Anyway, I will be here waiting for all your updates and to see how things are going!

I love your journey and I’m taking the MCAT this January. I am a tech in a PACU; I have learned so many people skills, how things run in a hospital, and how I would want to be treated if I was in their shoes.

I definitely want to copy you and jump from CNA to doctor soon.

I was wondering why you haven’t brought me up any pts from the ER lately! Wishing you the best of luck on your next journey. Excited to watch your progress through your videos.
