The ALEKS Math Placement Test is often required for students enrolling in college. The purpose of the ALEKS Test is to see what math course you will place into at your school. The main idea to do well on the ALEKS Test is to master key math skills and topics. In this video I will explain how to solve any equation on a multiple choice question on the ALEKS Math Placement Test. If you need math help in passing the ALEKS Math Placement Test check out my ALEKS Math course:

📉 Don’t risk a low ALEKS math score — it could cost you time and money!

If you teach an ALEKS test prep course, shouldn’t you know it doesn’t have multiple choice?

Well, I guess my level has improved since I solved this without the multiple choice. :)
Thanks to factoring and zero product.

doesn't aleks not have any multiple choice?

Absolutely best strategy that ive learned after scoring a 11 twice, then the 3rd I got a 19 simply by guessing instead of putting "I don't know"

Trust me.

This problem has already been set up to complete the squares.
(-2/2)²=(-1)²=1
X²-2x+1=3+1
X²-2x+1=4
x²-x-x+1=4
x(x-1)-(x-1)=4
(x-1)(x-1)=4
(x-1)²=4
x-1=2
x=3

X^2 -2x=3 equals x^2 -2x-3=0 gives (x-3)(x+1)=0, so the solution is x=3 or x=-1.

X^2 - 2X = 3
X^2 - 2X -3 =0 . (X+1)(X-3)
X+1=0 X = -1
X-3=0. X= 3
Solution are : -1, 3

My suggestion to you would be to avoid being too pedantic.People interested in math get bored by too much of simplification.

I don’t know about a hack for a specific exam, but I’ll solve quadratics all the live long day. Here we go!

x^2 - 2x = 3

Well, let’s get this equal to 0:

x^2 - 2x - 3 = 0

Now, we need to figure out if we can factor this. Let’s see, 1*3 and 3-1… yeah, this should work:

(x - 3)(x + 1) = 0
x - 3 = 0 OR x + 1 = 0
x = 3 OR x = -1

Let’s verify just to be sure:

x = 3; (3)^2 - 2(3) = 9 - 6 = 3 CORRECT
x = -1; (-1)^2 - 2(-1) = 1 + 2 = 3 CORRECT

Any questions?
