Caught in a Storm

As a Storm Spotter i get excited at the prospect of a storm coming in off the Lake, so with the forecast showing storms today I got on the Sea Doo and rode out far on lake Erie to see what i can spot.
Within minutes the calm waters were changed into rough waters.

Brave soul! I watch storms like this all the time, but from the shore of Lake Huron. Thanks for the ride on Lake Erie!

On a grey day a few years ago I was watching the wind all day while at work. Radio said it was gusting 80 to 100 kms. No rain, just wind. Launched in Port Stanley right after work. From the lowest point of the valley between two waves to the peaks of the waves was in the neighbourhood of 20 feet. One of the best rides ever! Scary in a boat... playtime on a ski! Grew up on the water... not for the timmid. Love your videos!

I'm 60 I've been a boater my whole life, mainly saltwater deep sea. You seem to me that you've never been in a serious issue off shore, I would hope you never do. When you make it back to shore by the grace of god with you bung puckered so tight you can't unpucker for a bit you'll never mess with the weather again

Been there done that along the Texas gulf coast. It can indeed pick up very quick. Thanks for the video.

Love how you were playing cat and mouse with the storm, I would have loved being out there that day with a fast Sea Doo but would not do it alone. Glad you made it to shore in one piece.

Careful on Erie.. it can change incredibly fast..15-30 foot waves/swells can happen.. it’s a dangerous lake

Nigel, I personally recommend the seadoo windscreen. Its a game changer.

Lake Erie is the shallowest of the 5 great lakes and gets huge waves because of that during storms. Getting caught on a boat during thunderstorm on lake Erie can be terrifying. Happened to me once around midnight while fishing for Walleye near Buffalo NY. the lake was flat and within no time we had 3 to 5 foot waves. Pretty scary when your on a 12 foot fishing boat and we had to travel back to the dock 2 miles away in the dark. On top of that I called the local TV News weather report on the phone and there was a SPECIAL MARINE WARNING for the Lake Erie near Buffalo NY. Good Memory now because that we made it back without getting hit by lightning or capsize the boat.

No offense, but I think your main belt is slipping a little. A jet ski, in a storm, on Lake Erie? Well, it's your life.

The fact that you put yourself in that kind of position to provide us with such an incredible video, you have definitely earned my respect.

Really cool to watch. That lake takes a lot of people each year. Stay safe

I have lived on the other side of the lake for 55 years and it can build trecherous waves quick. If you see lightning strikes, get off the lake ASAP.

Lake Erie is known to be The Quickest to rouse in a Storm, all because it’s the shallowest lake.

Lightening doesn't always give you warning.

I once was out fishing on a much, much, much smaller lake on a small Jon boat. I knew a storm was coming, but was fishing. I got caught out on the water. High wind and lightning. I was able to get the boat ashore and we got under a shelter house. That wasn’t dumb, that was stupid and dangerous. I will never do that again. I am glad you were safe. Scary stuff man, don’t push your luck and get your ticket punched
