Stupid people tend to harm themselves and blame others for the difficult situation they are in.

Typical US policy, no tact, threats and not even trying to get along with others.

This kind of aggressive talking does not help, for silicon has a certain grow rate and does not listen to any "superpower".

The is the consequence from the domino effect when trumpy halted the supply of chip to Huawei.

The auto industry don't want to say the demand for car in the US is going down due to covid & unemployment. The auto industry is using a high level language (dog whistle) and put the blame on chip manufacturer.

Making silicon chip is not like making potato chips. No matter how aggressive you push, you can't make the process go faster. It takes time for deposition, etching, photolithography, ion implant, polishing and etc. A single ppb chemical to DI ratio will kill the chips and you won't know until 6 months later at product end. It takes that long to make some advance chips. It's very complex process. Ask me how I know, being in this line for 26 yrs.

As she talking the US already decided to aggressive request such info from Taiwan/s TSMC. LOL, the Taiwan govt has to comply with US law for Taiwan registered companies. As US has plan to build its own similar facility (like TSMC) on US soil based on national security threats if the shortage continues. Of course, the US govt will deal with TSMC to have a TSMC plant in the US but are they getting the 7 - 10mn technology or 14 nm (and above) just for that starts mainly used by auto industries.

Buzz words don't solve problems. PR language sounds empty when uttered with disdain.
Transparency!

Raimondo asked Samsung, TSMC and others to turn over their proprietary data within 45 days. Samsung and TSMC will manufacture advanced chips in Arizona within next couple yrs at much higher costs.

also note TSMC is working on 2 nm chips, more than likely the end of silicon chips unless someone come up with other medium, carbon nanotube.
