This is what we all have to remember when it comes to war. It ain't pretty, and it can be very random.

So whenever you see the conflicts in Ukraine, Gaza, Afghanistan, Iraq, and so on... We should not just think about the political shenanigans, but the boots and civilians on the ground. Spare a thought for those people, because to them, what Don described is a Tuesday to them.

If we ever get involved in a war, it should be for a really good reason, because there are millions of Don's out there.

On that note, thank you for your service Don, and my condolences for your loss.

Everytime I see these WWII soldiers talking about there experience during the war I always think of my father and grandfather who both fought in WWII !
Even though my grandfather was a merchant marine !
I said that to an old WWII ex marine and he told me that my grandfather was alot braver than him because merchant marines werent armed like other navy vessels because they mostly had materials needed for war and he said if it wasnt for my grandfather they wouldve never won the war ! He told me I was wrong ! He said my grandfather was as brave as anyone else son ! I smiled and thanked him !

My father in WWII saw a fellow soldier curse God and shake his fist at the sky. My father literally thought lightning would strike the man dead. He used to laugh when telling this, about him believing something like that. Raised Catholic back in the day, you know.
