The bikeshop that build the bikes for the movie made 20 extra working bikes that were auction on ebay for about $35K each & I believe they are electric, but haven't yet been delivered, because by contract they can't release them before the movie opens on Dec 17th 2010.

Man if they actually started a trend of speed bikes or ninja bikes mimicking the TRON look... dang that would be bad ass to see a pack of these on the freeway at night.... Thumbs up!

Now you just need to make it work! It would be awesome to drive to work on a Light Cycle!

Actually, one company made like 6 of them. Parker Brothers, I believe. They are all fully functionally, hubless wheels, and street legal. The have some videos on youtube of one of them. They're bad ass.

the way he describes it we have the friction drive tech do make it work!

how do they get the wheels to move? i mean how do they transfer the engine power to the wheel?

@devafanda i would imagine that there is a wheel that the motor is spinning that is touching the big back wheel causing that to spin in the opposite direction... if that makes sense

I think there are two sets of real-world working tron-like bikes. I just wonder how it handles.

@linkrazr i think those ARE the licensed tron light cycles. Disney had them make five for each color? not 100% positive though

@stapletonm14 Look up the Parker Brother Motorcycle shop. They actually built some and are street legal.

Hell, they even built the Bat Pod from Dark Knight.

@stapletonm14 we have the friction drive tech for this type of bike and electric motors to drive it so im pretty sure someone could build it in fact someone already has!

@Raptorx007 Well the light's might improve the visibility of the rider to other vehicles, but the rider is lower and less mobile so they can't see as much, additionally, they're going to hit stuff head first, which is a bad plan.
