I was at Benning when the actors were there. (I was also there when the cast for We Were Soldiers was there as well. I had to clean the Main Post Chapel because filming was about to happen inside). The Rangers at Benning, did, indeed, leave a note for the actors. Not for themselves, but for their fallen comrades. They expected the actors to uphold the high standards of the Rangers in their performances of them, AND their fallen brothers. The actors, in my humble opinion, and speaking with Rangers that were there, did a good job

I’ve met some of the rangers that were actually portrayed in Black Hawk Down when I was in Iraq. Very nice people with great stories and humor. Some of the pranks they did in each other and other people are hilarious! Was actually able to get a pic with one of them.

The first helicopter to crash, the pilots angled the nose down so the cockpit took most of the impact to protect the others in the back, both pilots died. Staff sergeant Daniel Busch and sergeant Jim smith defended the crash until they could be evacuated. Staff sergeant Busch died from his wounds. Fantastic portrayal of this mission. Probably one of the most accurate films about war. Easily one of my favorite films of all time!

Just wanna ask, is the role of the Malaysian who fought and died to save the American there was so insignificant that it wasn't even portrayed in the movie? are we that useless over there? If not, by not showing atleast some part of Malaysian involvement is a major disservice to those who died there. Does it hurt their star sprangle ego that much if they show the american audience that a minor asian country saved their soldiers?
