You did brilliantly getting up there with that weight on your back I don't think I would have managed 100m. Hope you aren't away for too long Chris your channel is must see for me and many others, a chilled and relaxed style and always a pleasure to watch

Well done Chris, it's a pity there were no sherpas to carry the load, I reckon I would need a sherpa to carry me. It's was great that you had the experienced Gareth' to urge you on. Thanks for sharing.

Great job, Chris! Keep at it mate! I share the same feelings with you about being fit, but I am sure you'd blow by me anytime in the day. The important thing is you made it, and if you'd do the same hike next week it'd be easier and easier. So, as I said in the beginning, keep at it!! I love the sunrise photo!

I keep toying with the idea of wild camping for a night, but it’s the 20kg back pack that’s putting me off.

Perhaps I need to start training 🤔

Great to meet you this weekend and congratulations on making it

Enjoyed the video a great deal. You are right, fitness makes all the difference in enjoyment or disappointment. I've always liked going up more than down. Going down on rocky, rooty, steep trails really taxes my knees. I quite liked the shot of the wild camp. I thought the tents leading to the ridge then the lake was pretty good composition for that type of image. By the way, I've not found climbing hills with weight to be a beneficial as running for my own fitness. Climbing with weight does build up legs but it often ends up being anaerobic verses aerobic. For me, at my age, I find that a three mile run 5 or 6 days each week does me more good than anything I've tried. Again, enjoyable video and good on you for making the trip!

Brilliant vlog Chris, despite the lack of proper photographic conditions, you did really well. I hope you realize mind, that, if you continue climbing with pack weights like that, you will end up as super fit and slim as me. Real pleased you had good camping weather, although not the best for photos but I did enjoy the shots you did get and put up. I thought the first sunrise shot you showed at the beginning was stunning and I would have been more than happy with that one shot alone. I always feel more apprehensive coming down that going up, so easy to make a mistake but taking 'your' time is always the best, I never worry about being at the back or holding anyone else up. Great watch and here's to many more wildcamping adventures from you in the future. Cheers Alan

As someone who's just got into wildcamping through photography, if you enjoyed the actual camping part I'd highly recommend investing in a tent and going out regularly. I'm starting with the small fells that offer stunning views and working my way up. After my fifth climb I've already noticed an improvement in my fitness and it really is motivating to see that happen, there has been quite a few times during the walks I've asked myself 'why am I putting myself through this' but after rest its always worth it. I think I was camped on the same night as you at Small Water, the tarn you would've walked past if you came down the Nan Bield pass and was completely knackered just getting up and down from there. But yeah, if you enjoyed the camp, keep it up and it'll be worth it when you're sprinting up Scafell lol

Well done Chris, not sure what knocked your confidence coming down but I am sure you will get over it and do it again - enjoyed watching your efforts and truthful appraisal of the trip. Good one Mr Danks on your support for this trip.

Well done Chris, I feel a bit frustrated when on the fells I used to tackle without two thoughts - age has slowed me down and the knees are not what they used to be, but there is no doubt, the effort is still worth it. Just know your limitations and don't climb alone, unless you are totally confident. And as has been observed many times, often the best landscape shots are from lower ground.

Hi Chris, seriously well done for making this. Although I've done a few 'wild camping up mountain' trips, the few (much shorter) trips I've done this year have been my first carrying camera gear as well as camping kit. It's been an eyeopener for me just how heavy it all is, even when only taking the bare minimum of gear. I don't know if I would have made it on this hike myself, so well done for sticking it out and well done to Gareth for his support! I'm sorry the descent was bad and left you disheartened, I always find the descent much harder on the legs than the ascent. You both still managed to capture some lovely images despite the poor photography conditions and the images from Hawes End were stunning! Sam.

Nice video Chris. In the begining of september i will do at least one first thing and that is going hiking with a friend in the Swedish highlands of Abisko/Riksgränsen. Another thing that i plan to do that also will be my first is to do a few landscape photography vlogs from that trip. Scary as hell... we will see how it turn out. 😀

Really sorry to hear you're r quitting You Tube Chris, I'm sure it was a tough decision but sounds like you really need it. My evenings on You Tube will be missing something from this day on. All the best.
