8Kays delivers an inspiring label debut on Watergate Records, as the artistic project of Ukrainian sound-producer and live act Iryna Shvydka reinforces why there’s so much excitement surrounding her with the slick ‘Falling Down’ EP.
 
A collaborative rich EP, 8Kays links with Italian pair Glowal for the punchy ‘Matemática’, that brings plenty of eerie minor key vibes to the dancefloor thanks to the vocal contribution from Brasilian singer Abrão. ‘Falling Down’ sees 8Kays team up with the Buenos Aires-based producer and live act Juan Hansen for a captivating slice of electronic prog lit up by Hansen’s memorable vox and delicate strings. One for those special end-of-night moments.
 
Dutch pair Colyn & Beswerda suit up ‘Falling Down’ for a different occasion, adding a tougher backbone, while teasing out all the melodic flourishes to craft a remix that’s functional and stunning in equal doses. Man-of-the moment Chris Avantgarde then ramps up the intensity to eleven adding his own re-rub that’s everything we’ve come to love about the producer: bold, powerful and memorable.
 
The EP ends with a terrific 8Kays solo cut, the luminescent ‘Lyra’, a dreamy arpeggio-driven gem that closes out the work beautifully.

This is the most ultra-high-gliceri, fat slab of bacon I've slathered on myself in a good long while, why I'm so shiny you could fly me up a kite string and pass me off as the full moon! Not only does the song have me dancing in the drippings, but the video took me over the edge and into the grease trap! If I didn't know better I would say that's my Uncle, Grease Trap Louie. Looks just like him but I'd need to take a whiff to be sure, if he smells like Old Spice, ashtray, and corndog he may be related to me. Last we saw of him he had packed his AMC Pacer full of ping-pong balls and Goldfish and rode off with the carnival back in 1976. That reminds me, I know it's tempting especially what with the top-notes of corndog lingering in the air, but don't let him con you out of any money. And don't tell him you spoke to me, nope, uh uh. I don't care if he is this fancy time crooner making fat videos, nope. My ego can't take another hit like last time. Now, make yourself useful and take hold of this kite string and run like crazy, I want to get airborne before Hazmat arrives.
