Dutch symphonic metal band EPICA celebrated their 10th anniversary with a one-night-only event, dubbed Retrospect. The band was accompanied by the seventy piece Extended Reményi Ede Chamber Orchestra and the Choir of Miskolc National Theatre, playing an unforgettable 3-hours best-of set.

According to respected Dutch newspaper the Volkskrant "The band wrote a chapter of Dutch metal History" this evening. Rock Tribune (Belgium) thought it was "an unforgettable show".

Ten high definition cameras captured this very special sold-out show while Epica played in front of nearly five thousand ecstatic fans in Eindhoven, the Netherlands. In addition to a collection of the band's biggest hits from across the spectrum of their entire catalog, this once-in-a-lifetime spectacular also features the live debut of "Twin Flames" and the previously unreleased "Retrospect", covers of classics by Vivaldi, Pergolesi, and Oscar-winning film composer John Williams, two guest collaborations with the venerable Floor Jansen (Nightwish, ReVamp), and a very special performance of their breakthrough single, "Quietus", with founding members Jeroen Simons, Ad Sluijter, and Yves Huts.

Just saw the premiere of the DVD at a cinema in Munich and this show is AWESOME througout!!! I had also the luck to have the best seat - next to Yves, who was there with Mark. :) Was really nice to talk with this cool guy at times and laugh about some weird gestures of the band members during the show. :D A really great evening with a show, that really gives fans an anniversary show of it's best! Thank you, Epica! :)

what the choir sings is the fools of damnation part from the orchestral medley, and the acrobats they show were from chasing the dragon. when the guy says "special guests" that's retrospect

Looking forward to this. Luckily I was there so hopefully the passion and atmosphere of that transcending beyond a brilliant night will be preserved in this release of the Retrospect concert. Hopefully the great acoutistics of the venue will be re-created in this bundle.

I LOVE Tides of Time, but they probably left it out because they did Delirium and doing two like-minded ballads would be a bit much.. and Delirium is from the new album so they were probably excited to play it live. And Delirium kicks ass! Ah well. Hopefully Tides of Time and Resign to Surrender will come back into their live setlists someday!
