Notes about this video:
1a. I don't use a mat (I think they are called anti-fatigue mats) because I stand on soft carpet, but if I was to stand on hard floor, I would use a mat.

1b. I stand barefoot or in my socks because it feels nice, I can wiggle my toes and massage my feet with a roller or ball while working.

2. When I'm coming up with creative ideas and writing videos scripts, I like to sit crossed-legged on my bed or sofa as I can let my mind wander and daydream. I don't really get that vibe when standing.

I have a sitting/standing transition desk and it’s made 200% of a difference in my work day. I alternate every 2 hours or so.

I was diagnosed with a bulging lumbar disc (many of us have this issue, more as we get older) and the healing "prescription" was this: No sitting, bending, twisting or lifting for 9 months. I organized a standing desk for myself, and watched my legs become stronger, and my back healed! No surgery needed! I think your balanced approach is best - many people have lumbar disc issues from slumping over a keyboard! This proactive approach will really help with that!

I commented on your previous video about the standing desks as I ended up buying one as a result. I have MS and was suffering with nerve pain in my lower back before I got this. I was trying not to sit down all the time to relieve the pressure.

I have found this has helped and I tend to stand in the mornings and sit in the afternoon when I get tired and achey. I have noticed an improvement in my back so I massively appreciate the review and the update 👍🏻

You've brought back memories of an office job I had once. I could never do office work again. I hated sitting down all day and I just remember the relief in being able to just stand. Yep just standing up to go to the photocopier or loo felt like a reward. I'll never go back to working in an office again.

I'm not sure how many people could pull off that hat, but you are pure joy in it!

I'm here to learn about the desks, and getting to see the hat is a lovely bonus. 😍

I’ve had an electric sit/stand desk for about 5 months and absolutely love it. I definitely find myself moving around more, and when I’m on the phone or just thinking I am much more likely to wander about now rather than stay sitting down. I also feel less tired at the end of the work day when haven’t been sitting down all day. One unexpected benefit was that I also sit better at the desk as I have been able to adjust it to the ideal height for sitting- which it turns out is quite a bit higher than my old desk was - even though I never felt the old desk was too low. I did hesitate because of the cost, but would definitely buy one again now. Also I purchased the frame only and reused the top of my existing desk to keep the cost down and also so it fitted in exactly the same space.

I'd say an upgrade would be to have an electric desk and a good ergonomic chair. Then you can alternate between sitting and standing. So, you can alternate every hour or so.

But yeah, that's a HEFTY investment and takes a lot of space.

I found this really helpful because of the straight-up pros & cons breakdown. I've actually been considering a standup desk situation but thought "I can't stand all day tho!" dunno why my idiot brain didn't figure out that I could sit if I wanted to even if I have a standing desk 😂🤦‍♀️
Anyhoo, thank you for sharing your honest opinion!
p.s.: Just watched your 3months on Youtube update and if my opinion matters at all, I do like watching your product reviews, challenges, etc. but if you have a creative idea(s) that you want to add then I will watch those too! 💜

I worked from home and bought an adjustable desk off of Amazon, I loved it. I would start off sitting, then after my first break or after my lunch break I would sit for a while. then after my last break I would go back to standing again. Like you though I had to move into it slowly. It was awkward at first. But I truly enjoyed being able to stand and move around.

Hi Laura ! I think that the best solution is to alternate standing and sitting position at desk ... listen to your body I mean . A few months ago one of my friend bought a yoga ball chair to relieve back and a.s pain ( She did not think to buy a chair base to keep the ball still ) and fell backwards while taking part in work videoconference from home during lockdown ... Kind of funny/ dramatic . Greetings from Paris .

Yes! A bit of both, sitting and standing is what I find works best for me. Mind you I stand and walk mostly then I sit and it has developed so over time. Great video! Thank you!

A friend used a home-made standing desk in a TV newsroom for years.
Loved working standing. But also was moving all shifts around the newsroom and edit suites.
He had a sit down workspace too - but preferred standing.
At one time - he also HAD been very into yoga for years.

I’ve been sitting at home for 2 years 😫 There’s no sign of me returning to my previous travelling life. I knew I was sitting too much. This video has given me the push to try it. Thanks Laura x

Ooh, this really got me thinking. We had a number of standing desks in my office and I always wanted to try one. Now I’m working from home maybe this is my opportunity, thanks Laura.
