Bypass Plaid Username Password Prompt For Connecting a Bank

Fintech companies are using Plaid to connect bank accounts for deposits/withdrawals, but don't give them your credentials. Stick with the old school routing #/ account # method to limit their data access.

To see the Routing/Acct method:

Search for a bank (even if your bank is listed)
Type in the word 'a'
Select "Add Manually"

The company connecting your bank account decides where and if the option to manually connect is available. Plaid has the option, but some companies choose to not have the option available.

I despise plaid, i lucked on to manual input after my info failed, but they have since changed it so now you are out of luck if your bank is a small one that doesn't use this stuff.

It you search "a" 'now it will just show no results and close. I can no longer find the manual option.

Quite abusive behavior from Plaid and the companies using it. Should be regulated without a doubt.

It never seems to amaze me how companies like Plaid can stay in business and people use them regularly even when they ask for information that everyone says not to give out especially you're password to your bank account that should be a huge red flag!
And yet people still give them this information after that it's like taking candy from a baby and it's all you're fault for giving it to them.

I've found a lot of companies using Plaid and it's been driving me nuts that people would give their bank login to Plaid. What a ridiculous thing to do (Not that I'm a fan of the archaic ACH method either). This video was made about two years ago and this method still appears to work. Thanks for sharing!

My challenges is that I’ve been trying to manually add my bank to a crypto exchange and it’s still not allowing me to do that even though the bank is listed, they keep trying to force me to use this Plaid, I will not comply 😡

Using this method is hit and miss. Used it trying to fund one of my accounts and when the bank wasn’t located, it just offered the prompts “search again, “ and “exit” - nothing to manually input the information.

Thank you! Everytime I went to set up my account to add funds..I would always stop b/c I didn't feel comfortable or safe with giving Plaid my bank info. Like wth do you need my bank login info?? Finally came to YT do some some research and came across your video. The prompts on Binance are a little different now but it can still be done. I appreciate you so much! 😊❤

The trick with the routing number has been fixed.
If it can not find your bank (ie you typed xxx) it will say EXIT or SEARCH AGAIN.
It no longer has the option to enter manually. :(

what would you recommend to someone who has given them that access already? would changing the password to your bank account resolve this?

Yeah after giving up my log in information they wanted my checking routing number and account number. After the whole process it says "account not currently supported". I feel like I been plaid! Looks like your method is working. I just have to wait 4 days for them to put the pocket change deposits into my account. Thanks

Thanks for this great workaround….although things could be slightly different when we follow these step now but the end result is same👍. I wasn’t comfortable at all sharing my credentials so with this method I could link my checking account with only my ac no. & routing no. Thank you so much!😊

Muchisimas gracias.. no sabes el favor que me acabas de hacer. Tenia un dinero en Cash app y aun teniendo la tarjeta registrada me pedia enlazar mi cuenta de banco. Al querer hacerlo este Plaid me pedia darle todo el control de mi cuenta y no entendia por que alguien te pediria contraseñas y toda la informacion bancaria y sin ello no podia retirar mi dinero.
