I had an old early 80s digital delay, that had some sort of grounding problem, and it would always pick up random CB and other radio stations.
I kept that thing for years, because that was the coolest effect, especially ran through the rest of my pedal board.

This makes me wonder how interesting lightly convolving radio static into a synth would sound, and I'm now going to try that. Thanks for the inspo!

That's cool! Now I want to try using my 1960's shortwave radio as a frequency modulator input - have to see what Hydrasynth will allow me. Even my venerable Korg R3 can take external audio as an oscillator.

I bought it on day one. It’s so usefull in my music! I know it’s a shot vid but the ability to sweep the frequency pot with CV is very nice.

I use lots of noisy environmental sounds for textures. Love it.

Sounds similar to what the plugin meatzone does to sounds. I love that plugin so much.

Very cool! Sort of in the same realm. I'm very much in love with the chase bliss generation loss mark 2 VHS/ tape duplicator. Allows for some serious warbles and messing stuff up as well. I love it

Mirwais Ahmadzaï is a genius at this. You must listen to the outtro of American Lufeby Madonnna! It sounds like war time radio hammung signals. It's so good!

Ive done similar using those mini fm transmitters to play your mp3 player on you car stereo, before the days of line in sockets and Bluetooth. It doesnt sound as good as this though. AM operates in lower frequencies and the subsequent static is a lot warmer, with different artifacts, than FM. I might revist, try filtering it and adding some AM sounds.

Short wave radio is excellent for this. I think there used to be a eurorack module that used it as a noise source. But it went out of production before I got into eurorack unfortunately.

Reminds me of Simon the Magpie's pedals. A lot of them do a lot of weird stuff

ive sampled the broken aux jack in my car a few times. Its kinda like "playing" a car w/ a 1/16th cable lol.

Never listened to Queens of the Stone Age's Songs for the Deaf? Whole album is interspersed as if they're listening to the radio on a long road trip. I kinda have fallen out of love with Josh for obvious reasons but the album is pretty damn good
