Nancy Wilson: born 2/20/37 died 12/13/18. What a great voice she had.

Had no idea this was a mantra when I sang it over and over; still love this song and, no, never did I marry.

I was lucky to first hear Nancy Wilson when I was 13- she had a hit on top 40 rock and roll in my southeast USA town " Face It Girl, It's Over". Then Nancy was a guest star on The Carol Burnett Show, then I saw her in a guest shot on a TV drama. What a talented lady she was!

Just in case any of the younger generation wonders anything about this entire LP...it's called Professional Artists at work and play. No flat or sharp notes... clear, gorgeous unmatched voice and chops to burn for all. I bought it new... still listening.

Never, never will I marry
Never, never will I wed
Born to wander solitary
Wide my world, narrow my bed
Never never never will I marry
Born to wander 'til I'm dead
No burden to bear
No conscience, no care
No memories to mourn
No turning, for I was
Born to wander solitary
Wide my world, narrow my bed
Never never never will I marry
Born to wander 'til I'm dead
No burden to end
No conscience, no care
No memories to mourn
No turning, for I was
Born to wander solitary
Wide my world, narrow my bed
Never never never will I marry
Born to wander 'til I'm dead

I was in 1st grade when my dad bought this album, and I still remember hearing it and even how the album cover looked...I thought Nancy Wilson was so beautiful and elegant. I'm so thankful to my parents for giving me the gift of hearing so much jazz and classical music as I was growing up.

Life would have been easier if someone had clued me in early on that this would be my theme song. It's a good one. :-)

The first image l ever saw Ms. Wilson was this album. I miss her. I remember thinking she and Mr. Adderly were in love with each other.

This, with these two, describes much more than the lyrics. It's a way of walking out the door into the day.

I was 13 in 1961 when I first heard this song and knew then that I never wanted to marry.

Fun fact:
if you're married, you're legally not allowed to sing this song.

Came here from the song “Never Again” by Flamingosis, because he sampled this song.
