In the Summer of 2021, students from two First Nation communities in the Ottawa region took part in the Indigenous Archaeological Field School. The new initiative by Public Services and Procurement Canada teaches Indigenous youth about archaeology and helps them discover their own history.

Student participants from Kitigan Zibi Anishinabeg First Nation: Jennifer Tenasco, Drew Tenasco, Alina Jerome, Bryton Beaudoin.

Student participants from Algonquins of Pikwàkanagàn First Nation: PJ Leroux, Dakota Commanda, Alex Commanda, Jenna Lanigan.

Public Services and Procurement Canada acknowledges that the land on which we gathered this footage is the traditional unceded territory of the Algonquin Anishnaabeg People.

It will be wonderful to see the history unfold pre European settlement of North America. I hope you are able to find beautiful art and jewelry/embroidery housewares etc..
Nish!
I was very disheartened to recently hear about repeated vandalism at an indigenous led field site.😢
Glad to hear about added security, but it shouldn't be needed.
Am I alone in wondering why society has turned in on itself?
Wasn't Canada an amalgamation of people's all trying get along? Why did that stop and who has been forwarding this agenda. We need people to push inclusion and love, and to find their inner spirit!
It seems everywhere I look there are idiots intentionally causing distress!
Maybe it's just me, but I think the "free love drugs are ok generation" really did a number on their children. These children are adults now that are able to rationalize themselves first above all. When that happens society fails! You can't expect religious organizations to fill that Gap alone or that's all we end up with. I truly feel that the government of Canada is failing it's people. It doesn't matter if it's a liberal or conservative, they ignore the base problems and use bandaids until the bandaids run out or the wound is too big!
And i truly believe that the first nations peoples have been though enough distress and heartbreak.
No wonder our people are fighting everywhere, even amongst ourselves!
We need healing!
