A plug door tore off from the left side of an Alaska Airlines jet after takeoff from Portland, Oregon, en route to Ontario, California.

The incident depressurised the plane and forced the pilots to turn around and land safely back at Portland with all 171 passengers and six crew onboard. US regulators ordered the temporary grounding of 171 Boeing 737 Max 9 aircraft after the incident. NTSB chair, Jennifer Homendy said the plug door was recovered from a back yard in Portland while investigations into how this happened are still ongoing. She went on to say design flaws were not suspected 'at this time'.

I hear Putin is interested in taking these planes off the airlines' hands. Whoever has fallen foul of Putin, gets a seat belt with a defective buckle.
