ITV1 IS BACK! | The ITV Refresh of 2022 | ITVX

Well this was certainly a surprise! As part of a brand refresh, and due to the impending launch of ITVX, the main ITV channel will be renamed, back to ITV1!

But is this the right step? Does it make sense or is it more of a confusing backwards step? Join me for another unscripted discussion and find out!

Bit of a shock that they're reinstating the '1' after nearly a decade, the main reason they got rid of the '1' in the first place was because most people just called the channel 'ITV', I wonder how long that will last.🤔

It is nice to see ITV1 as it's own name again. It feels nice it does.

I thought to myself when I first heard it on PresCafe that it's rather nostalgic bringing the '1' back, mainly because I remember the ITV 1 Xmas idents from 2012, so just using the ITV 1 name brings back a few memories.

Nice to see that name coming back, like BBC One, but since 2013 we know ITV as ITV, it may take a little while to get used to see ITV 1 back

ITV1 makes total sense. What they are doing makes perfect sense.

While I do like ITV, I've always been a fan of calling it ITV1. I look forward to any future analysis of the rebranding in November!

Here's an idea: WHY NOT BRING BACK GRANADA, THAMES and ALL THOSE LOVELY CHANNELS THAT GOT ENGULFED BY ITV?!! I loved it better when each channel region had its on identity!

The font on the ITVX website isn't ITV reem (their current corporate font) so I wouldn't be surprised if they want to align all of them.

Hi Adam, I was told by someone in the industry that ITV plan to keep their current logo, but refresh their ident package, and possibly a well overdue refresh of ITV News who have had the same look since 2013. I do not think they are ditching their logo. I will keep digging to find more.

I've always been fond of the swirly ITV logo, so I'm glad that's not changing. As for the main network re-naming itself back to ITV1.... Well, I already made fun of that, recently.

I find it nice that ITV first had the rights to Ice Age when they were ITV1. They got the rights back in December 2021 (aired on ITV2, back when ITV1 was still ITV) and now they’re ITV1 again.

I wish that regional channels would come back and not just for news programmes, but, alas, I don't think that'll ever happen. The ITV1 thing sounds a bit odd when they haven't used it in ages, only time will tell if it will be successful.

Hi Adam, will you do a video on 50 years of proper regular daytime television in Britain? I have long studied this event which happened in 1972, as I am not sure many people know British television channels up until 1972 were limited per day on how many hours they could be on air. October 16th 1972 was a date in broadcasting history with the launch of a proper, codified and linked ITV daytime service. I hope you will do a video on this, please let me know. Thank you.
