This is the official in studio music video for Steve Forbert's "Heartstrings", which was written by George Gerdes (who passed away on this date two years ago) and Marc Johnson.
"Most hoot nights featured a "special guest," someone who was already playing the club—a treat for us tenderfeet, a look at what we were aspiring toward. If you were going to play on a particular weekend, you were obligated to drop by the hoot night and sing a couple of numbers to promote your upcoming gig—and perhaps bask a bit in the glory of your now-superior stature in the famous folk temple. That's where I first saw George Gerdes. He was part actor and part songwriter and had released two albums on Vanguard in 1972. He did a guest spot that featured a song with a skit about Elvis lost in Oz. That caught my attention immediately." —from Big City Cat, My Life in Folk Rock
