FakeGamerGirl is totally right about Spirit Halloween being trashy but simultaneously amazing. We can all tell it's just a closed-down Nordstrom that they converted into a costume store by putting up a series of tall racks and hanging a bunch of campy and cooky Halloween decorations and bagged costume "kits" so that you can make last-minute Halloween party decisions for between $20-$50. And yes, the mask wall was hilarious!

Last week I got out of work early, so my boyfriend took me on a surprise date to Spirit Halloween. It's in a building that used to be a pharmacy. We walked around for 45 minutes, made all the animatronics move, giggled at the costumes, and left without buying anything. It was great.

I'm in NYC and here the pop up in whatever's empty. A former Bed, Bath and Beyond? Abandoned Planet Fitness. So they're usually configured a bit differently each time. And yes, they just appear

YEAH SPIRIT!! To kinda answer your question about the masks, I'm pretty sure both Party City and Spirit Halloween have a mask wall, but I think Spirit did it first

I’m in Pennsylvania, and it’s the opposite here. There’s a long gap between when they put up a sign and when the store is actually ready.

The manager of my local Spirit Halloween encouraged me to go all around in my wheelchair and let her know if anything needs to be moved. So sweet. 😊

Trick or Treating did have some older origins of asking for alms/treats, but our modern Trick or Treating is only about 100 years old and it was adopted to keep teenagers from trashing a ladies garden on Halloween.

By the mid 1920's, most American cities had adopted the tradition, and by the 1930's, candy companies started backing the tradition.

Spirit Halloween is loud. The air smells strongly of plastic and chemicals. It’s stuffed full with people and as such is usually kind of hot and humid. The wares are incredibly cheaply made and incredibly overpriced. I get so overwhelmed I cry every single time I go.

That said, it’s the best store ever and I look forward to it every year. There’s nothing better than going with friends or family, making fun of the costumes, brainstorming your own costume ideas, triggering the scare animatronics, going home with a few cool accessories or maybe a Nightmare Before Christmas picture frame. It’s an amazing way to get into the holiday spirit and it’s one of my favorite fall traditions. <3

Where I work there's a spirit that sets up right next door to us. Its so fun to watch them just suddenly appear. I swear they just work late at night or early morning cause we see the storage trailers but never the people. Better answer is just ghosts I guess.

The masks are still in the back in a corner but they also now have a jewelry and mug maze to the register now. it gets me every time.

I live in Salem, and used to be a manager at spirit. No one does Halloween like me and that IS a flex

"i gave birth to my cat. that's my baby."

That's so real oh my god. Nobody can convince me that my cat isn't my human daughter.

Awesome build btw, I'm driving my sisters out to spirit halloween next week for our costumes. It's a necessity.

That's the thing I love about Americans, they go all out for the events like this with costumes and decorations

I’m fortunate enough to live in a city that has a Halloween store that is open all-year round. How it has not bankrupted or anything, I do not know. Instead of its expensive jumpscare attractions being in the front, it’s set up as a small haunted house in the very back of the building. Very spooky

The thing about the big ass scary decorations at Spirit Halloween is so real. I went there for the first time when I was 12, thought I was so brave, than cried after an employee jumpscared me in one of the aisles. And I still fw Halloween

To this day my mom still uses very OLD Halloween decorations- we’ve reused so many that they got so old we had to toss it- occasionally she will buy something new but a lot of our Halloween decorations or Christmas decorations are reused every year
