I worked as a labourer for twelve months in 1980 on the Footscray Market building site. I remember at the start. It was just ankle deep mud with a fence around it. I was 18 years old and worked overtime to buy my first car (HG Kingswood). I'll never forget one very hot day (December 8th, 1980). It was 40 degrees and knock off time. I walked four blocks to my car, where it was parked. The car didn't have air conditioning. Anyway, I started it up and turned on the radio. Straight away there was a News announcement - John Lennon had been shot and killed. I turned off the car and walked back to the site to tell my mates who were still there. I was just numb. Unbelieveable. I'll never forget it.

yes many changes billy from a lilttle tacker born in footscary hospital.in1959..to seeing the bridge fall down in 1970 to having daddy cool around the area in the 70s..and later on to playing drums one night with your band at the harts hotel..allways a friendly and warm welcome from you ..australian music legend in my great memories allways billy....best wishes ..gary [.old footscray boy =... up in ballarat for now..?..

Well Footscray has lost its Soul, , also lost Charlie from Charlie's Pizza around 2 weeks ago ..24.1.25 ..Also lost Nick from Olympic Doughnuts about 4 years ago ..Franco Cozzo we lost him 2 years ago .Les Twentyman 1 year ago ....only one left is Harry the Jew .i think hes still kicking ...
