Axes Are Better Than Swords In Minecraft 1.18 PvP (Proof)

Hot take in a way that the take looks really attractive, therefore "hot"

I did a test between Axe vs Sword PvP in Minecraft 1.18 and Axe PvP is a lot stronger than Swords in Shield PvP .
Capade tested this out in PvP Legacy

Well, for more experienced pvp it is good to use both weapons and know when to use each weapon.

Try doing the same thing with enchantments like in netherite pot, you won't get the same results. The axe is 100% superior when it comes to early-game pvp, but the sword shines more during late game pvp

it depends who you play against, really good sword players will smack any axe player in axe a sword kits. And I mostly play axe so I had to get better at sword to win those duels, but good vid.

I honestly think that sword and axe are equally as good, it's just the person who plays it. The axe and shield combo is a classic masterpiece whereas the sword and gapple combo is comparatively bad..
So it just depends on who play's the combo properly.

axes are more useful early on when you dont have maxed out netherite gear and totems so axes and swords are diferent compared to your gear level

With netherite armor, you take reduced kb and you can easier stay close to the enemy, allowing you to use the sword to its fullest extent

In enchanted netherite pvp, sword will be meta since you can put fire aspect and have sweeping attack and players will most likely use totems instead of shield, but of course in diamond pvp, the axe comes out on top.

Honestly you probably want to get good with both weapons. As a sword main I've noticed that axe players are a lot less aggressive with their playstyle due to their slower attack speed and are harder to combo because they back up a lot after a hit. IMO both are good weapons you just need to know when and where to use them.

imean, dream stratting does work very well when you don't have full prot 4 netherite armor and crystals and all those good stuff, but once you get stuff like pearls and anchors, swords start to show some better results

well the thing is 0:10 completely ruins your argument as any player who doesn't know what they are doing will lose even if they use an axe

Fun fact: in 1.9 (yes exactly) shields used to block only 2/3 of the damage and you would take knockback from arrows and way more from explosions. So axe disabling wasn't that big of a deal. Also, full hunger regen was only slightly faster than 1.8. 1.11 changed both things.

Today I was playing PvP legacy, I was fighting someone with a sword and they were using a sword as well. It was a fair fight, until they pulled out their axe. After they did that, it wasn’t even a fair fight, I destroyed them

ngl, i really hate the fact you can just axe crit and run away and win most of the time. It's a really cheap tactic.

It depends of the inventory, if you have litteraly a sword, axe and shield obviously the axe is better, but it you have (as every pvper in every smp) something of useful like pearls you can easily pearl on the enemy.
Everyone os going to have full netherite so sword, having more dps, does more damage in general.

In terms of raw DPS, swords will always be better, especially when enchants are involved. But the flexibility of the axe makes it far more effective for pvp

And the fact that a wooden axe has the same damage as a diamond sword, you can basically beat a kid with a diamond sword using a wooden axe
