I’ll never understand how this wasn’t praised like hell for being so intensely atmospheric and layered when horror films at the time we’re turning into torture porn thanks to Saw’s success. This and Arlington Road were Mark Pellington’s finest work.

I hold this movie as one of the greatest horror/terror films ever made. I'm in a heightened state of fear through pretty much the entire movie.

I’ve seen this movie so many times before and NEVER noticed the reflection does match what he’s doing.

I didn't notice the alien/Mothman face in the mirror until I watched the film for a second time. Definitely one of the creepier details.

One of the most terrifying moments in any film. I remember watching this for the first time on a rainy day on vhs in the summer and as a 14 yr old being genuinely shocked and scared. I still get goosebumps when watching this massively underrated film.

This scene is so creepy, but I think the scene where Gordon Smallwood actually meets Indrid Cold at the abandoned chemical plant was even more disturbing.

it was a good idea to have them not sync at first, and then match up perfectly at the end ... i love this move !!!

This movie is an underrated classic and a personal favorite of mine... it never got the recognition that it deserved, it got released in theaters some months after 9/11, so that's probably why. This is right up there, with any horror classic, in my opinion 👌🏻

😮 To think that Indrid Cold is right in there watching him, is just down right eerie/creepy.

Probably the scariest and most creative horror movie scene of all time.

I never even noticed the face in the Mirror. I always new something was wrong about the mirror reflections too, but I didn't realize it's because they were out of sync. This is an underrated movie.

Seen this film a bunch of times & knew the face was there, but the filmography is carefully constructed to show you that Cold is right there next to John as his reflection before you see 'its' face for a split second. You don't even really notice the reflection is out of sync with John's movements, because you are focused on him. This movie is really all about demonic/fallen angel phenomena, from driving Gordon mad & to his death, to lying & pretending to be John's dead wife. The phone call is the best one... John:"Are you reading my mind?"... Cold:"I have no need to..." Why? because 'it' is in the room right next to him, seeing John put his watch in his shoe etc. The lab guy who analyses he voice calling it an 'electirical impulse' nails it as these are a type of electrical/energy being & the conversation with Leek gives you the rest: "It's perception... They appear differently to
everyone...". More I have watched it over time, the more there is to notice.

i noticed the face detail when i watched the movie as a kid, but i didn't catch that it looked like an alien. i always thought the reflection was meant to be his missing wife, which honestly is a concept that scared me more than it being Indrid Cold xP
