Thor: Ragnarok – Every Easter Egg

Did you catch all the hidden references in Taika Waititi’s Thor: Ragnarok? We found a whopping 29 Easter eggs in the new Marvel movie. Be warned – spoilers follow.

Amazing going back in time and seeing how short these Easter Egg videos are compared to now (end of 2022). It makes sense, but also Ryan really elevated this channel with these in my opinion (he hooked me years later with these kind of videos).

The fact that Loki celebrates the batter of Thor is funnier than the batter itself.

Thor's beer refilling with Dr. strange is a reference to the Norse myth of Thor trying to drain a drinking horn (secretly connected to the sea) in a drinking competition in Utgard.

Or how, ironically, Odin goes to Norway in his exile, considering he’s a Norse god

Hey Matt Damon played Loki in Kevin Smith’s movie dogma! And plays Loki in the play version in ragnarok. Easter egg??

You guys missed the "I'm not a queen or a monster - I'm the goddess of death" easter egg specifically made for Cate Blanchett. It references her iconic roles in Elizabeth (she plays the queen of England) and Notes on a Scandal (she plays a pedophile). That is fucking genius writing. THAT is a fucking easter egg!

You guys missed two... When the Grandmaster says ‘I pardon you’ with his two fingers extended it’s a reference to Schindler’s List when Amon “pardons” himself before killing someone. Also, when Hulk calls Thor a “tiny Avenger” it’s a reference to the first Avengers movie when Thor says ‘you people are so petty, and tiny’.

Bruce Banner mentions that when he turns into the hulk it’s almost like he’s in the drivers seat, but when he’s been the hulk for so long it feels like he’s been trapped in the trunk. This is likely to be a reference to The Totally Awesome Hulk when Amadeus Cho has “dreams” where he’s in the driver’s seat and he keeps the monster within in the trunk.

I'm so annoyed that people missed this, but it is a super aussie, new zealand reference. When Valkyrie brings Thor to the Grand Master and states how much she wants for him, Jeff Goldblum's guard says "tell her she's dreaming". It's a reference to an old 1990's Aussie film called The Castle and is a bloody classic.

Shady Acres retirement home is also the retirement home Carl is supposed to be sent to in "Up" by Pixar

When Thor finally gains cotrol of his Thunder powers, he spins through a bunch of undead like Raiden from Mortal Kombat

1) The guns from Texas introduced by Skurge are dual references to current Dallas Cowboys wide receiver Dez Bryant and Hall of Fame quarterback Troy Aikman;
2) Dr. Strange sending Loki falling through the Astral(?) Realm; and
3) A subtle dig at Fox and the Quiksilver "Whiplash" effect with Dr. Strange needing to be pleaded with by Thor to stop moving around the Sanctum so quickly...

You guys missed the Easter egg in the beginning of the movie where Thor is wrapped in chains calling for his hammer saying 1, 2, 3 but fails. This is a reference to iron man 3 when he was held captive and was calling for the arm piece of his suit saying 1, 2, 3 several times until it finally worked

So I just watched Ragnarok again and, as is tradition by now, I came to screencrush to get the background on all the stuff I didn't know... You guys have come a long way in 6 years. Only 29 Easter Eggs!! Amazing.

Haven't seen it referenced yet, but Korg looks on to Asgaard as it burns and says how it can always be rebuilt, "if the foundations are good." That may be a reference to Batman Begins when Michael Caine's Alfred talks to Christian Bale about making upgrades to the Batcave.

When thor came into the throne before the big fight his painting from above the throne room had a crack through his left eye foreshadowing losing it not even five minutes later
