I have just recently started accepting this view. Preterist. I have been trying to get family members to listen. BUT: they keep bringing this verse up. “Then we who are alive, will be caught up together with them in the clouds to meet the Kord in the air…”
WHY did you just “skip over these words, as if they weren’t there. What am I not getting if there is an explanation, please, why not give it. Or, is it me, just not able to see.

At 16:00, the answer: Acts 1:9 "After he said this, he was taken up BEFORE THEIR VERY EYES, and a cloud hid him from their SIGHT."

The Angels in verse 10 told the men, "why do you stand here LOOKING into the sky? This same Jesus, who has been taken away from you into heaven, will COME BACK in the SAME WAY you have SEEN him go into heaven".

The Prophecy of the destruction of Jerusalem are the "desolations" which would come on DISOBEDIENT Israel. That is NOT the "wrath of the lamb", that which is written in Revelations. That will be the time when ALL THE WORLD will be judged by the King of kings and Lord of lords. THAT TIME has not yet happened but will happen WHEN the Lord Returns FROM Heaven, as the Angels told the "men" in Acts.

The "desolations" of Israel came upon them as had been Prophesied by both Daniel and Jesus. The WRATH was from God, not Jesus. The Parousia is the TIME when God SENDS Jesus BACK TO Earth, to Rule, to Govern, to "bring down" every Mountain and to "raise" every " Valley. That has NOT HAPPENED and did NOT HAPPEN in 70 A.D.

Who SAW or witnessed an APPEARANCE of Christ in 70 A.D.?? Nobody. Don't ask me, "Well Paul, how do you know he DIDN'T appear?". Your problem is that no one ever WROTE anything about a 70 A.D."parousia". You cannot back up this 70 A.D. so called "Parousia" with WRITTEN History. It is an imaginary concept.

What "Bereans" does not understand is that God's FOCUS went from the Nation of Israel to the ALL THE WORLD. The Jews had the Kingdom "at hand". It was theirs for the taking IF and only IF they "repented". So the words used for THEM were words of immediacy. But, what HAPPENED? They, the Nation of Israel REFUSED the "doctrine of the Apostles" and so brought CONDEMNATION on themselves.

So, the Jews who had believed, UNDERSTOOD that the "Kingdom Promise" was no longer immediate; they understood, as Paul revealed to them, that God would be RECONCILING both Jew and Gentile, UNTIL the "fullness of the Gentiles be come in". How LONG a TIME is THAT? No Time is given, it is continuous UNTIL God determines to SEND his Son to JUDGE THE NATIONS. He is coming in glory and when he comes he will Rule the Nations with an "iron rod". No more World Governments, no more World Wars, no more World Poverty and Sickness. Even so, COME Lord Jesus.

BTW, there is no "dying and going to Heaven". People "go" to their Graves and will not see life again UNTIL Jesus RETURNS and Resurrects them "out of" their Graves. Our HOPE is Christ "at his return" it is not "going to heaven" nor a "church on Earth" without Jesus's visible, physical Presence.

The "age to come" is WHEN Jesus RETURNS
