It's an amazing lens for wedding photographers who wants brighter Aperture at low cost & decent image quality. Also it is a great choice for travel photography, also serves the purpose of day to day photography. I think it's a smart move by canon

Honestly, this lens just saved me from leaving Canon. I am tired of the lack of affordable lenses and also no third-party support for full-framelensess.

Just got mine yesterday. Took a couple of pics and looks really good. Diving into it fully today. Good video BTW.

Thank you for mentioning the 24-105 f4 because I'm literally searching for comparisons between the two so i can decide on what to get.
I'm still on the side of the 24-105.

Thank you for the review! Was stabilisation ON at 03:25? It looked a little bit too shaky... 🤔

I totally agree with you on how annoying the extra turning to start shooting position. I hated it on the RFS 18-45mm, it’s the sole reason I wouldn’t buy this lens, otherwise it would have been a winner.

Very impressed by your samples from this lens. This will be a one-and-done lens for my R8!

Quick question. Is the auto focus noise (for video) on this lens as quite as the stock (non L series) 24-105 or is it closer to the 50mm stm prime etc? I also own the L series (24-105) and it's "clicking" drives me crazy haha. I love how insanely quite the stock 24-105 is but i would love a silent f/2.8 zoom in my collection too. many thanks for the video!

Thanks for the review. It's 1550$ here in Budapest where I live. At this price it's a hard pass for now. It needs to drop at least 30% from this price IMO with all these flaws it has compared to L lenses.
Thanks for being honest about this aspect in your video. Best wishes from Hungary.

Gorgeous real-life images. Best pre-view I saw so far. You are an ambassador to be nominated. I thought of the price being ridiculous, but after having seen the bokeh, humm, maybe it’ll give it a home.

If I had a burning need for 2.8 I might consider this, but my 24-104 f4 serves my needs perfectly 99.9% of the time. I would much rather have the extra zoom range and L build quality. If I find I need brighter lens I can always pop on my EF 50 f1.4 with adapter or my RF 85 f2.

First of all. Love the video! I am concidering upgrading my old 200d to an R8. And the 2 lenses I am considering are the 28-70 f2.8 and the 24-105 f4L because of they are almost the same price. Right now I have the efs 17-55 f.28 on my 200d and sometimes I miss the more zoom when photographing events for my youth movement. So I can take more pictures that are not posed and feel more natural. But I also really like the f2.8 on that lens. I also have some filters for that lens and it is the same size of the 24-105 L. Is there a difference in sharpness between the 28-70 and the 24-105? I really can't decide which I should buy. Or should I keep my 200d and combine it with a new camera and go for a 70-200 that way to have even more range. Or is that stupid to use an old camera with a standard zoom and a new camera with just a telezoom? Thanks a lot for the information!

I wonder where does the 24-70 L fits in now. I would like to see the performance and quality test

I was on the brink of buying a control ring and a second hand EF zoom lens for my RP and then saw the announcement. I am so pleased and will definitely purchasing. Size & weight is a big issue for me as I find it really puts me off taking my camera out for the day. Buying a mirrorless full frame was meant to solve that issue. Im hoping to get my mojo back with this lens as got out of the habit of regularly using my camera. Fingers crossed.
