Alan Watts - Choice

Alan Watts discusses choice and the thoughts process behind it. Our choices are fundamentally what shape our character, and more importantly our life as a whole.

(remember to subscribe and like the video please!)

"The data for any situation is infinite. So what you do is, you go through the motions of thinking about what you will do about this. But worriers are people, who think of all the variables beyond their control of what might happen. Choice is the act of hesitation we make before making a decision."

You don't need to know everything. Everything you need to know will come to you when you need to know it.
If you fail or make a mistake then you needed to know that.

Alan watts is awesome

Alan Watts has this strange way of making me feel horribly lost in the universe and at the very same time found, like he has the meaning of life completely determined.

Mr. Nobody is arguably the most underrated film of all time. So glad to see it represented in a speech such as this one.

Alan Watts has expanded my mind so much and has opened a whole new paradigm of thoughts and a way of being one with life. Thank you so much to everyone for posting his speeches and letting me and everybody listen to them!

I love his humorous analogies. "Did you ever see a cloud that was misshapen?"

Firstly. I love Alan Watts, when I'm on the mood I listen to it and lay on my bed on some sort of a "trip". Sometimes I even put it on a kind of ambiental sound. His speeches and quotes definitely changed my life. Here's why:

So, I'm 17 and I have a way of thinking very similiar to what Alan Watts says on his speeches, that are present on Youtube.
Sometimes he helps me find myself too, because even though I kind of acquired my way of thinking by myself, being surrounded by the system and people that aren't like me could probably influentiate me to be just another one. Please, don't get me wrong, I don't want to offend anyone, I respect everyone and their opinion, but fuck, I would find or think that I was alone if there was no Alan Watts.

My native language isn't English, but even in my native language there are somethings that I can't describe. Alan watts sometimes transforms my thoughts into words.

I find myself fascinated by the fact that people spend so much time watching bs on television, seeing celebrities lives, following them then again on smartphones, just why? I can't idolize the supposed "celebrities", I honestly couldn't care less about what the fuck they are doing, much less run like a bitch or pay for an autograph or something like that. I mean, I think that everyone should see some Alan Watts's videos, and not the everyday shit that steals their time.

Afterlife? I have no idea. I believe, yes. But while I'm here... I'm going to enjoy this trip, and not waste it, come on people wake up. Like, why stare at a screen 24 a day? People and especially my generation are completely blinded and this shit scares me.

Just some digress, Peace :)

Mr. Nobody was such a good movie. I just watched the extended edition yesterday and it felt as if someone had made a movie specifically for me, addressing my own worries and fears. Just for me. My late 20s are turning into a philosophical awakening for me personally. I'm about to turn 30 this year and the last 2-3 years have been full of discovering Alan Watts, free-will, and similar concepts. I'm so glad I learned it, as it has definitely impacted me and the way I look back at my life in my early 20s and teenage years.

Alan Watts opened my mind just over 6 months ago. I'm so grateful for the recordings on here :)

More than 5 years have passed now since you left. And I moved on. Found myself again, took a leap of faith and grew further into being myself. I'm happy and grateful. Lost something, won something else. Yet still there are those nights when I just miss you. And probanly not even the person you've evolved into, but that one that you were for me. And then I'm asking myself what you're thinking of all of this now and how you'd see me now. But it's for the better, right? It is.

I guess a certain part of my heart will always be yours. Zyanya. Always. We just couldn't bury all of it when we buried our little fox.

I hope whoever you are that is reading this, remembers what you are: Light. You are not the ideas you have about yourself. You are not the ideas that other people may have about you. You are not the hypothetical ideas that you think other people may have about you. You are much grander than that. And stranger. "Light" is the image we use to talk about awareness. "Light" illuminates objects (sensations, thoughts, impressions, etc.) but is never the objects themselves. Plus the objects that pass through your awareness are ever-changing and fleeting, but you are still here--what gives? You are the invariant, the backdrop. Maybe an object momentarily eclipses this understanding from time to time, that's OK. You are allowed to remeber at any time.
