Communication Capstone: Virtual Poster Presentation - Parker Staten

I decided to join Jesse and Devonte’s group because I found their topic to be really interesting and something that I could give a different perspective on. So when doing our resource we used Mark Orbe’s co-cultural theory and Glenn and Johnson’s study into African- America males in white institutions. The things that I found to stick out the most to me is how people change to try to fit in. I never thought about some of my friends that are African- American having to try to change who they are which is really sad and I really felt bad about that. What I have really found out is that people sometime have to change their opinions or not voice them because people might judge their whole race just for one persons beliefs.
