I think the cutaway has a big impact on the timbre of the Collings. A one-to-one comparison would ideally be between two non-cutaway guitars, in my opinion. But the Martin sounds great!

they are both wonderful 👍
one is not noticeably better than the other although the tones are slightly different 👍👍

Which one did you prefer? The Martin sounded more woody and warm to me.

Martin. But it's not fair - because this is the OM28V, which is the top of the line in my opinion. The string spacing on the V is different - wider at the bridge - than other OM28's. Somehow it makes it more powerful and balanced. The volume rivals a dread, but so balanced throughout the lows to the highs. This Collings sounded nice, but wimpy compared to the Martin.

I prefer Collings which is more open and wide, airy
