This is the next step in home prototyping, if you get it so you can have a 4th rotary axis then milling aluminum extrusions is possible

The first time I saw this process it was to "burn" out a broken tap that was stuck in an aluminum work piece. The machinist cut out the core of the tap, then picked out the pieces, leaving the threads untouched.
