There are few finer things I enjoy than getting a small-displacement sportbike, a medium-speed racetrack, and no time I need to be back in the pits.

Bikes that race in the MotoAmerica Junior Cup, such as this brand-new KTM RC 390, teach even the most experienced and jaded moto journo a few new tricks each time the key is turned. Light, svelte, damn good looking, how could you not love an RC? The good news is that the only single-cylinder bike in the Junior Cup field (and 2021 champion in the hands of Tyler Scott against a horde of Kawasaki Ninja 400s) has been thoroughly revamped for 2022 and the result is even better than even my jaded old self expected.

Nice review! I hope KTM can bring a 1000cc or 900cc RC bike as it would be disappointed for RC390 riders have to change another brand when they want to upgrade from 400cc level to 1000cc just because KTM doesn't have it.

I'm 55 years old and absolutely LOVE this bike. The bike isn't just for kids and teens. It's for old guys too!

Come on now, "CHILDREN?!" I'm 38, this will be my third bike (2015 R3 was my previous), and I'm without a doubt picking one of these up this Spring. What many others need to realize is those of us that don't want to mess with height on something bigger, but are only 5'6" as a human, going with something bigger and better really isn't an option, no matter how much we want to do that. I don't prefer tip toes/leaning at a light just to touch the ground on a heavy ass bike, so the RC 390 is dope!

Good review as usual Rennie, hopefully the QS issues get sorted.
Kawasaki and Yamaha definitely need to add some of the tech that KTM has on their small capacity sports bike such a QS, IMU and TFT dash. Keep up the good work mate!

Unfortunately since Tyler has moved on to supersport all Junior Cup is Ninja 400’s.

He really is a tremendous rider.

Love the look love the bike hate the issues with that engine. They really need to stop the crap seals and sensors issues I have no desire to be replacing bits and pieces wether they made the cheaper to buy or not. I’d pay more for it if they would fix the quality issues but they have not done a dam thing about it. No sale
