As a member of the Cherokee tribe of Oklahoma and a Chrysler/Jeep technician, there is nothing offensive about this. To a majority of people in this country, if it wasn't for the Cherokee name being on a very high selling vehicle, most would never hear the name Cherokee.

I’m a Cherokee indian and I’m proud to know that we have a vehicle named after us.... it sounds just like someone just wants to get gis 15min of fame to complain about something that most Cherokees could care less about...

It's gonna get awkward when people realize how the Army names the majority of the helicopters...

So when the fire department drove on icy roads and busted through snow berms to get to my home for a medical emergency in a Jeep Cherokee it was disrespectful. I’m not buying it. The Cherokee and those firefighters saved the day.

It’s like everyday I wake up to some new insanity. Get a life, stop working so hard to find offense in everything. It gets so old.

Good grief I'm Cherokee and I don't agree with this. Let Jeep motor company keep making the model and quit crying about it.

I'm 1/4 Cherokee and I approve cultural use. Once we abolish all references or ties mentioning American Indian culture, it will simply disappear and be forgotten. Same view with sports teams - it evokes a fighting spirit of a warrior in my opinion when used.

Where was this guy 47 years ago when the first Jeep Cherokee came out, oh right he wasn’t. 2021 just a good year to complain.

This shit has gotten out of hand. Everyone is offended by everything now in days. If they had a problem with Jeep using their name why didn't they say that from the beginning. Not wait some 40 plus yr later...smh.

I don't blame him. That's like evicting someone from a property and then selling stuff named after them and never sharing profits.

I haven't even made the correlation between Jeep Cherokee and Cherokee Native Americans.

I have Cherokee family members and none of them have ever said this offends them and we have been driving Cherokee's for years.

We don't think of Native Americans when we hear Jeep Cherokee we think of a reliable strong vehicle and going offroading.

I'm Cherokee.
An indirect product of this behavior gets our name eventually removed from history. I'd rather see it on a car and be remembered. 🤷‍♀️
