Let us never forget Joe Meek, the genius behind Telstar and many other incredible, memorable tracks from the 1960s.

I'm 70 and I testify this was the best music of all time. The 60s, 70s were THE BEST!!!

RIP Don Wilson. Thanks to you and all of the Ventures for the awesome music. Often imitated, never duplicated. The Tornadoes' version of "Telstar" is great, too. But I like the Ventures' version best!

The Ventures "Telstar" was my first encounter with American music back in 1961 when I was at grammar school. More than 61 years have gone by now, and this music yet brings me nostalgia.

Still have this song on my iPhone and love it. Got to meet Don Wilson of the Ventures a few years ago and had a great time talking with him. Such great music and a very kind gentleman.

I remember playing this album on my mother HI-FI record player that can reproduce that heavy bass notes as well as Crystal clear high notes back in my high school years from the 1960s. This was before stereo sound.

I woke this morning with this tune going through my head. I wonder if we will hear music when we're carried up to be with Jesus?

Back in the 60's they played this song every day over the loudspeaker system at Camp Dearborn in southeast Michigan. Loved it then as I do now. Thanks for posting...

I still like the Ventures version of Telstar, which is the first version that I ever heard, back around 1965. Many years later, I heard the original by The Tornadoes, which I also like very much. Still a little later, I heard another mid-60's version by The Spotnicks from Sweden - which I also like. The Spotnicks version is closer to the original, with a plaintive transistorized organ and a hypnotic pattering rhythm played on god-knows-what. Joe Meek came up with such a fabulous melody that it's hard to cover it and not sound good. In my humble opinion, a great TUNE (i.e. melody) has wondrous power to stick in the memory, and to withstand the test of time. Telstar is one such tune.
