I remember reading the Quran out of curiosity when I was 14 and going through existential OCD. The vivid and disturbing descriptions of hell are what I most remember but reading that line about women’s inferior testimony I was like “this is just factually not the word of god”

For anyone interested in countering Muslim arguments I suggest watching Christian Prince on Youtube. Testify is doing a great job in the last couple of videos but trust me he hasn't scratched the surface of Islam. Christian Prince dissects Islam like I've never seen before, he's also a native Arab so the "you don't know Arabic" argument doesn't work on him.

I just want to say that the "lightly" part in the verse of "beat them" doesn't exist in arabic, it's just there because muslims feel embarrassed by what the quran is actually saying that they altered the literal translation.
