I think you have skinwalkers confused with the Wendigo. The Wendigo is a folk tale. In folklore, it’s a demon/spirit of wind, gluttony and chaos. It’ll attach itself to someone completely normal (although they try to go after those who have killed or cannibalised before) if that person is mentally vulnerable in that moment. Their skin will turn a sick, sad shade of purpleish grey and they will grow taller. They will then go find the skull of a dead animal (often a deer) to hide their face. The skinny image of the wendigo is because the wendigo’s full blown canibalistic hunger is insatiable and will go on living for slightly longer than the average human without ever being even a little fulfilled and when they die, the next person is chosen to take their place. Some believe there are multiple, some believe it’s a singular entity. One of my favorite cryptids. Skinwalkers are:
A. In folklore, witches with evil spirits attached to them. They are mischievous and bloodthirsty but will not harm you if they cannot find a reason at all, although they will use pretty much anything as a reason.
B. In pop culture, humanoid creatures (similar to scp 096, the rake and the Wendigo) that can shapeshift.
Both don’t always attach and mostly won’t attack unless provoked or hungry, although still dangerous (if you believe in them). Some of both can shapeshift, but normally they use their last prey as a skinsuit, hence the name “skinwalker”.

Bro I actually encountered a skin Walker when I was playing games on ps5 (Hitman 3) I had a dog (Shiba inu) my friend was went out to walk the Shiba inu when he came back my friend was gone and the dog
